Match Report

Tigers Xmas Tournament

A quick match report here as the Tigers only played two games of football. The remaining two games would have required trunks and goggles and would have resembled that famous after school sport of Octopush. (What on earth was Octopush?)

With Streety missing in action, the Tigers fielded 9 regulars and a guest appearance from Josh who claimed 'I've got some business to sort out with that Trents bunch!' I thought nothing of this until I saw his mum wielding a rather dangerous looking curly wurly in her left hand!

Anyway, back to the action. First game saw the Tigers meet a mate's team in Meadway Youth. Unfortunately, Meadway only had 6 players and no Tigers wanted to wear the Yellow and Blue of the Youth. So in all non competitive fashion, Tigers fielded all 7 players and also selected the goal with the wind behind them. (So much for cheating then J ).

Seriously, Meadway played well and it was only the expert keeping of Thomas that kept Tigers in the match. The Tigers had a few chances but nothing much to speak of. Final score 0-0 and another clean sheet for the Tigers.

The second game was against AFC Whitchurch. Having just watched them beat Meadway 2-0, the Tigers opted for a more regular formation and this seemed to pay off. Max and Josh at the back looked solid in front of Thomas and Mitch, Cameron, Taylor, Joe, Reiss and Jake creative in midfield and Callum putting in some running up front. After a few breaks, Tigers found the net with Callum taking the plaudits. Personally, I didn't see the goal as I was trying to find Taylor to bring him in the game but apparently it was good. Next up was Cameron, finishing like an arrow and showing his form is back. Finally, Jake netted the third after good work from Cameron and Joe.

Final score 3-0

The final two matches were abandoned due to the bad state of the pitches and the wet, freezing conditions. The really encouraging sign from the Tigers was that everyone got stuck in and didn't let the poor conditions affect them. Everyone turned up, everyone tried their best and again, everyone did the parents and manager proud.
